Christmas parties are one occasion where you can really go all-out. Dazzle your friends with sparkling outfits in red and white combos, or traditional red and green. Shine in icy blues or sip your champagne gracefully in a classic black dress. We’ve put together seven ideas to suit everyone and every occasion this festive season.
1. Glitter Outfit
You can wear as much glitter as you like at Christmas time. We like the idea of black sequined pants and matching jacket, contrasted with bright red heels and lips. Carry a clutch in jeweled silver and wear silver jewelry to match.
2. All White
Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? If your Christmas party is a lunch or morning brunch affair, an all-white outfit would be perfect. Think of a white jumpsuit with rose gold accessories. You could take the same white jumpsuit and team it with red accessories for a proper Christmassy vibe if you prefer. Red lipstick would look great here, but maybe it’s best to keep your eye makeup fairly neutral to avoid looking like one of Santa’s elves.
If it’s cold, an all-white fitted outfit with a big white coat over the top can also look amazing. Choose white, skinny jeans and a bodysuit. Wear white boots with heels and gloves. Pick out a gorgeous contrasting scarf in red. Lose the accessories and coat once you’re indoors and dance the night away under the mistletoe.
3. Office Party
Sometimes for an office Christmas party, you don’t always have the opportunity to go home and change after work. But you can still look festive with a little forward planning. Wear classic fitted black pants and black blazer to work with your standard office shirt and low heels. Take a small bag to work with you with a few surprises in it to change into later. Pack some black heels and a sequined gold top to wear under your blazer. Choose something that won’t crease if it gets a little crushed in your bag. Rolling it carefully in tissue paper will help. Take along a small sequined clutch purse to swop out for your normal everyday handbag. You’ll need a pretty, sparkly clip to pin your hair up and a brighter lipstick to get you into the evening mood. That’s it! Office to party in five minutes flat.
4. Vintage Themed Party
Christmas time is ideal for themed parties, and a vintage theme is very popular. This is great if it’s cold as it’s the perfect opportunity to wear a long, Victorian style dress. Try to find something in a warm red or dark green velvet-type fabric. Wear sequined or embroidered loafers with it and carry a clutch purse in a contrasting color. Gloves are necessary with an outfit like this too. Wear your hair up in a classic style and keep your makeup simple and understated.
5. Short and Sparkly
Short dresses with loads of sequins or diamante are fun for evening parties. Pick colors like silver, red or black. Wear a flashy pair of heels and bright lips to seal the deal. If it’s cold, you can layer a dress like this with tights and a fitted blazer. Alternatively, go for a floor length of a similar dress for a more formal occasion.
6. Red, White and Black
We love the combination of these three colors as they suit everybody. Christmas party invitations often call for you to wear red and white. Adding a little black pulls the look together and makes it a little easier to wear. Pick a pair of black pants. They can be leather or denim, depending on how casual the evening is going to be. Add a sparkly red tank top and matching heels. If you’re going to be outdoors or the evening is very casual, you could wear black boots instead of the red heels. Top it all off with a warm, white blazer. Glitzy red nails complete the look.
7. Little Black Dress
Perhaps you’re someone who feels more comfortable in something classic and would prefer to skip all the bling. A little black dress is still ideal for every party or occasion but give it a little twist of something special to make you quietly memorable. A feather boa draped over your shoulders will add an extra special touch. Try a fake fur wrap for a more elegant look. Alternatively, use the black dress as a backdrop for some beautiful accessories. Silver necklaces and earrings will offset it nicely, or what about an ornate, wide bracelet. Tights finish the outfit off and will also provide a little warmth if it’s chilly outside.
